I wanted to do a “tribute” album to acknowledge some of the guitarist who have inspired me over the years. This CD takes selected riffs that made me have passion for the guitar and puts my own musical twist on each track. I bought new equipment and learned so much in this process. The digital age has truly revolutionized music creation and allows musicians like myself to pour my talent and emotion into what I hope is some great guitar playing and songwriting. I hope you enjoy...JD CD Tracks:
John E. Davis records for the Arlington Guitars record label. Hear all the tracks to this CD at
NOTE: Since these chord progressions were originally recorded by the creating guitarist and are copyrighted material, I only sell my CDs at my cost to print them, my out-of-pocket expense. A total of $4 a piece. The $2.50 shipping covers U.S. and international shipping coast to coast. I make no profit on my CDs. I offer my individual songs absolutely FREE to my fans for download and distribution.
Guitar tracks were recorded on heavily modified Fender Stratocasters. Solos and backing tracks recorded with a modified Marshall DSL 2000 stack and a Boss ME-5 Digital Effects unit and recorded with Shure PG-57 mics in stereo. All backing guitar tracks were double tracked in two takes. I run a Marshall 1960A slant 4x12 cab with four Celestion speakers. I run a Marshall Lead 15 Micro Stack head a "pre-amp" dry and flat out. That's it. Thanks to Guitar Center - Arlington for keeping me in strings and picks. This CD was recorded and digitally mastered on a Fostex MR-16 digital recording console. CDs were remastered and recorded with a Macintosh G5 computer and OSX 10.4 music recording software. Recorded Summer 2007 at the Park Spring Recording Studio. Special thanks to Britt for the use of the recording space. Thanks to Vivian Campbell, Jake E. Lee, George Lynch, Billy Gibbons, Dave "The Snake" Sabo, Scotti Hill and Jimi Hendrix for all the various guitar ideas and musical concepts that made this CD possible. Special thanks to my good buddy Steve Sagerson of Soulville for his vocal help on ZZ Top's Tush. Visit Soulville's web site at www.soulvillemusic.com for his latest CD. Also special thanks to everyone who came to the studio to help with the recording of this CD. Also thanks goes out to all my friends who are a part of my existence, keeping up with correspondence, sending e-mails and helping with the daily operations of my crazy life. You know who you are. It's your love and patience that makes all this music possible. I could not do it with out you.
To all my fans in the Shredder newsletter database who send in the comments and responses, Thank You. I had no idea when I started all this three years ago that we would have grown to more than 500 strong. Goodness. To all my international fans in Spain and elsewhere and my connections in Chicago and Houston, thanks for being fans and loving my music. I'll be back soon... Thanks to R.J. and all the Saturday afternoon poker scabs at The No Frills Grill - Arlington for keeping me entertained and Tim, Beach, and Josh and the gang at Rusty's Billiards - Arlington for all the great poker games and beer "on the house"... Thanks to the Davis family for spreading the Shredder news and keeping up with the e-mails. I feel this is the best guitar playing I've ever done and I hope you enjoy each track. To all the guitar players out there who always rip it full out...Enjoy.
